I have this problem: I installed scim, and I installed scim-hangul, as well as libhangul (comes with it all).
Now, when I change any settings (not necessarily related to scim-hangul), it changes it, but it does not save it at all.
Google it, can't find nothing. Went on IRC, no one responds.
I did an strace and strace -f on scim-setup
I ran sudo scim-setup
All of it does absolutely nothing to alleviate or solve my problem.
I know the config file is in /etc/scim/
And I also know that the user config files are in ~/.scim/
I reload configuration and I have logged out and in, and even restarted (gasp!)
But all those things seem to do no good.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi, I used to have that problem. The way you start scim matters. The module to load of FrontEnd and Config could be specified when you start it. e.g. you could start like
scim -f x11It seems when you start it with frontend socket, the configuration won't be saved. Refer to
scim -hto get full options.

You could try to start scim by typing
scim -f x11 -c simpleOffline
Right, thanks for the advice.
I installed scim and configured it according to the wiki,
thus the code that I have in .xinitrc is:
export XMODIFIERS=@im=SCIM
export GTK_IM_MODULE="scim"
export QT_IM_MODULE="scim"
scim -f socket -c socket -dI shall try your suggestion, however.

Killing all the scim processes and running:
scim -f x11 -c simple -e hangulIt helps, I can change settings, and they reflect.
Now one question I have is, can you change
between Hangul and ASCII input using the AltGr key.
Anyone an idea?

Ok, I got it working.
Don't check Alt or Key Release, so that the hotkey is only Alt_R,
and then it works
Awesome.
Thanks!!

Ok, I can definitely confirm that now scim is working,
just as I expect it should.
The wiki says to use:
export XMODIFIERS=@im=SCIM
export GTK_IM_MODULE="scim"
export QT_IM_MODULE="scim"
scim -f socket -c socket -dThat did not work for me, but this did:
export XMODIFIERS=@im=SCIM
export GTK_IM_MODULE="scim"
export QT_IM_MODULE="scim"
scim -f x11 -c simple -dMaybe this is a scim bug.
Who knows.
But my problem is solved! ![]()

There should be logic for not saving configuration change in socket model, but i didn't find any documentation of it either. ![]()
