Hi,
I'm considering moving some of our production desktops from CentOS to Arch. Folks here are using Thunderbird, either with the calendar plugin Lightning, or the standalone calendar Sunbird.
1) The Lightning plugin is not available.
2) Sunbird is only available in english (our systems are either in french or in german), there are no i18n files available.
Mozilla Foundation apps are always a bit, erm, peculiar to build. You can't help the feeling you have to be part of some secret club to actually know how to build these things
Well, maybe one of the club members reads this.
cheers!

Well, copying the strategy used for firefox-i18n and thunderbird-i18n does not work... It appears that even when the language packs are installed manually, sunbird does not detect the system language and it needs to be started with "sunbird -UILocale <locale>" where locale is in the form "xx-XX" if that language pack exists or just "xx" if that exists.... So I will need to hack the sunbird launcher to get this working.
This does not seem to be too much of a problem but I also want to try hiding the language pack installation from the addons manager as is done in firefox and thunderbird which does not seem to work for me.
All in all, this may have to wait until the weekend... ![]()

sunbird-i18n is now in community with an updated version of sunbird that will pick up the system locale and use it. Give the mirrors time to sync then enjoy.
