Getting XEN to work ?

Hi, i've installed XEN on my ArchLinux build, following the Wiki article,

...install pre-requisites

pacman -Sy iproute bridge-utils zope python twisted-web curl

...then xen with

pacman -S xen

...edited the grub menu

nano /boot/grub/menu.lst

...adding this

# (3) xen
title  Xen
root   (hd0,1)
kernel /boot/xen.gz dom0_mem=2024288
module /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.11.18-xen0 root=/dev/sda2 ro

...into my grub menu so i can boot with XEN

the /boot/ is where i've found the xen.gz + kernel files so altered that and it boots up ok, but then halts with...

artkbd.c:  unknown keyboard input.... etc...

and then hangs there, can't figure out why it's hanging there, i'm trying to run it on my HP laptop so it might be a hardware issue, but really would love some help on this?

any ideas?

Re: Getting XEN to work ?

done some hunting around and found there might be issues with booting XEN on machines with ACPI support.

so tried altering the 'module' param to...

module /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.11.18-xen0 root=/dev/sda2 ro acpi=off

but no go.

found this, which shows people are having their fair share of problems with booting XEN, even on CENTOS which i'd expect to work straight off.

maybe the version i've got is an unstable one added to the archlinux repository, may try to manually build an older version, 2.9 is said to work.

any pointers?

Re: Getting XEN to work ?

Did you ever manage to get XEN to work? I haven't. It's a very confusing thing to set it up on Archlinux and the howto's / guides are not really helping us with anything.
