Re: Bunch of "transient resolver failure"

well, if you're still getting the "FATAL: Could not load/lib/modules/2.6.22-ARCH/modules.dep: No such file or directory" error after running depmod, then I'm pretty much out of ideas (besides updating the system, which isn't possible without a network connection!) Using the latest iso is probably the best idea at this point.

Re: Bunch of "transient resolver failure"

hey, i have a similar problem with my fresh arch linux installation (onto a hp pavillion dv8000)
I've tried the installation several times to see if that's the problem, working on re-downloading and re-burning the image to see if that's the issue as well

when i try the code

pacman -S pacman

i get the same transient resolver failure and error to synchronize to any databases

the /etc/host file is empty (ie it treats it as if i'm writing a new file)

the /etc/rc.conf file has the MOD_AUTOLOAD="yes" and the blacklisting option is commented out

I have a working internet connection (i'm able to ping google with a response time and eth0 is up according to ifconfig ... getting wireless working is secondary for me and something i want to get working after i make sure my install is stable lol)

any help or suggestions?

Re: Bunch of "transient resolver failure"

Hi, just starting with Archlinux.  Had the same problem as you.  Looks like dns wasn't up.

dhcpcd

ping www.google.com
pacman -Syu
!works!
