Setting up Samba

There's a Wiki article:

http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Setting_up_Samba

It starts this way: "First of all - make sure you have the workgroup of the home network you wish to share over. This will come into play later. "

I'd like to know how smile  . About networking I know next to nothing smile  .

I've got two computers at home, and a router. I just want to share files on this "network"; samba seems to be a reasonable choice in case of a visitor with a Windows on his notebook smile  .

Re: Setting up Samba

go to your windows comp, right click on my computer, propeties, and go to the Computername tab. There should be a listing that says "workgroup x"
x for the workgroup that the computer belongs to. Usually MSHOME, if you havent changed it.

Re: Setting up Samba

Then i guess setting MSHOME as default workgroup in samba is the logical way to go smile
