Brand New Thinkpad

so i just got my new thinkpad in the mail. its flippin sweet but it came with SLED 10 installed so i installed arch today.

im having issues with the acpi. cant figure how to get suspend and hibernate to work. ive got the thinkpad_acpi module loaded and acpid running. when i close the lid it looks like it goes to sleep but i do not get disconnected from irc so i must not be getting suspend. when i open the lid again the screen is black and i can only get a gui if i switch back and forth between vc1 and vc7 a few times.

also when im listening to my headphones i can hear everything that the mic is picking up. i disabled the mic in alsamixer but i can still hear it.

ahh... almost forgot system specs.

Re: Brand New Thinkpad

pm-utils is the new suspend and powerstate setting framework. It is designed to replace such scripts as those provided by the powersave package.

It is usually used by HAL to execute the various hacks...

Install this package and after that you can use command pm-suspend (as root) to suspend mode.
If you want to use pm-hibernate, maybe you need to configure something (see in Wiki)

Re: Brand New Thinkpad

There are several Thinkpad pages in the wiki: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Spe … kpad&go=Go
I have a T23, which works perfectly with Arch: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/IBM_ThinkPad_T23
And, yes, PM-utils is one of the perfect companions of a Thinkpad, along with tpb, and laptop-mode-tools.
