Nvidia Drivers

Hello all, I have been trying to get games such as Call of Duty 4 and the halflife games to run much better than they are now (With call of duty 4, I get at max 40 frames a second). I have a windows harddrive and I play COD4 on that and I get easily over 100 frames even in intense action. My specs are:

Intel duo Core 2.67 GHZ 1066 FSB
Asus P5N-32 SLI Premium
3 GB OCZ 667 mhz Memory
EVGA 8800 GTS 640 Mb

I always hear people talk about driver versions and updates. How can I check the driver version that I have with linux and how can I update it. I fell as though if I do this, I will get, hopefully, a frames boost.

I also understand that it is linux and it will simply not run as fast as windows (yet). But i think that I should be able to get at least 60 frames, agree?

Thanks so much!

Ryan

Re: Nvidia Drivers

A trick which might help with performance a little bit is to put in ~/.bashrc

export __GL_YIELD="NOTHING"

Yes, that is two underscore characters. See nvidia's README for info.

Re: Nvidia Drivers

Thanks for all the info. I tried that code and also updated my nvidia driver, but sadly, no increase in FPS. hmm. Thanks again though! If you can think of anything else, I would greatly appreciate it. But I will be patient, it is amazing that I can even play the game big_smile
