http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PKGBUILD

no offense but one would expect users coming from crux to find their way around really quick. you re excused but only for the first time tongue
ps. unlike the crux wiki and mailing lists as well as the forum Archlinux has much more detailed instructions for pretty much everything.

There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

Re: Own Packages

A PKGBUILD is much like Crux's Pkgfile, except somewhat more full-featured.  Arch's makepkg is somewhat like Crux's pkgmk -- it runs the instructions from the PKGBUILD to build a package that's installable with pacman.  ABS is kind of like Crux's ports tree.  Pacman is sort of like prt-get, except it only deals with packages and doesn't build them by itself.  There should be manpages and wiki pages for everything.
