Everything works as expected, except mythtv--the backend log reports a socket error, and mythbackend either crashes or refuses to start.

Thanks for the backport! I have pretty lights now (LED works now), but still I can't find any single 11a network when scanning.
My router is dual band and I am currently connected to the 11g network and pick up a couple of other 11g networks.
With ipw3945 I could connect to 11a without problems, OpenBSD's wpi using the same µcode as iwl doesn't find 11a networks, either. I'm puzzled and have to continue using 11g, whilst the only reason for buying this router was 11a support...
I just checked and can't see 11a networks either. The problem might be some regulation thing:

I just went and tried to upgrade to 2.6.25 but I have encountered a problem to do with my webcam, which uses the linux-uvc-svn driver from the community repo.
[root@richard-laptop richard]# pacman -Syu

core is up to date

resolving dependencies...
looking for inter-conflicts...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: linux-uvc-svn: requires kernel26<2.6.25
[root@richard-laptop richard]#
So it look like I will not be upgrading for a while unless I can find a work round.

cp the pkgbuild from /var/abs/ and remove the kernel restriction from it. Will probably need to set _kernver too, which is an often-used variable in kernel pkgbuilds:
V=$(cd /usr/src/linux && make kernelversion)
sed -i -e "/^_kernver=/s/.*/_kernver=${V}/" PKGBUILD

Update was smooth - kernel 2.6.25-ARCH works like a charm.
I was a bit afraid of ACPI problems, because my notebook has a crappy ACPI-Table - But everything works (Temp monitoring, fan control etc).
which laptop ?
mine (MSI GX700) has problems as well, would be nice trying 25 kernel for this reason

Wow, thanks a lot! I might just set my router to use a specific channel (allowed in the US and the EU and therefore allowed in the driver) instead of DFS and my problem should be solved. I would never have thought of such an issue, thanks again!
I'll see if something like this exists with OpenBSD, too, I most certainly hope so. [And I'll probably write my second mail to a mailing list ...the last one was about wlan and openbsd, too...]

You can always rebuild the module yourself: uninstall it, update kernel&co, then get the PKGBUILD from abs, change the kernel version, build and install. All that assuming the source code is compatible to 2.6.25.
The community repository only in sync with core/extra, not with testing.

Thanks for the info guys. I will have to look into how I rebuild the module and how I use PKGBUILD as I am pretty new to Linux and have only been using Arch for about 2 weeks now.

I am trying to reduce the amount of
patching, especially if it only benefits a few people or can be
potentially dangerous.
YAY!!

For those using Nvidia Legacy Drivers (like me) you can find the patches and instructions to compile them for 2.6.25 kernel here:
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=110088
I successfully compiled version 96.43.05 and I'm using it right now with the kernel from the testing repo and it's working fine until now.
PS: Sorry about my lousy english

You do know that those drivers are in the testing repository as well? No need to compile them (packages nvidia-96xx-utils and nvidia-96xx)

This is the first vanilla kernel where:
1) the last non-working piece of hardware in my laptop works without patches and/or external modules (thanks to the new nozomi driver);
2) I can suspend to ram and resume without any trick, thanks to the new stuff in i915.
Very happy

Anyone seeing some problems with nvidia graphic drivers?
Programs like glxgears is workish, but dont seems to update the windows, so i just see a frozen image.
In glxgears, the fps is still shown, and is about the same as before, so in some way it is still working.
I am not 100% positive that the kernel is to blame, but i know it worked some few days before the update...

All fine here as well. Thank you for the fast upgrade.

what about virtualbox modules ?
compilation ok but somehow does not load:
sudo modprobe -v vboxdrv
Password:
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.25-ARCH/misc/vboxdrv.ko
FATAL: Error inserting vboxdrv (/lib/modules/2.6.25-ARCH/misc/vboxdrv.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

More accurate statistics show that iwl3945 is working MUCH better
All great here, not one problem since update... nvidia, intel 3945, core2 duo, pata...
I did notice, though, that udev now takes about 2.6 seconds (.6 more than with 2.6.24) to load the modules... Maybe more modules are being loaded....

ok...
Installed kernel, nvidia-beta and all is working, I'm even trying Metacity's compositing again; when I updated to gnome 2.22 it crashed miserably, now it seems to work.
udev seems to take a little less time to me than before (850ms now, before was 980-1100ms) so it's all good for me.
Thanks a lot.

Maybe I missunderstood the information from the firts post, in the message linked Thomas Bächler says
I didn't update any modules, so if there are new versions available for
any, please inform their maintainers. The following modules are
currently broken.
So I thought that the nvidia modules wasn't updated, sorry about the unnedeed info.
