Gnome complains about .ICEauthority

I just installed pulseaudio following the wiki. First boot everything worked. I enabled esd in gnome sound settings and booted again. I got this:

The GNOME session manager was unable to lock the file '/home/hsjc/.ICEauthority'.

I checked the file, it's empty and only allows root to read and write. I chmod'ed it to 666. The same error pops up and I check the file again. The permission is back to root only. The owner is still me.

Please help me on this one. I can't even start gnome...It seems a very rare problem. I searched online, mostly people solved it by chown or chmod.

Re: Gnome complains about .ICEauthority

You need to be the owner of ~/.ICEauthority, not root.

Re: Gnome complains about .ICEauthority

I don't know what caused the problem, but I finally solved it by deleting two files that are:

.ICEauthority-c
.ICEauthority-l

Re: Gnome complains about .ICEauthority

It might happens when you launch GUI applications with sudo...
