K3b charset error

I get this message when I open k3b

System locale charset is ANSI_X3.4-1968
Your system's locale charset (i.e. the charset used to encode filenames) is set to ANSI_X3.4-1968.
It is highly unlikely that this has been done intentionally. Most likely the locale is not set at all.
An invalid setting will result in problems when creating data projects.
Solution: To properly set the locale charset make sure the LC_* environment variables are set.
Normally the distribution setup tools take care of this.

I have done some internet research on this and I'm not the only one with the problem.
The language settings appear to be correct in rc.conf.
I am running gnome?
Is k3b looking for language settings somewhere else?
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: K3b charset error

Looks to me like you didn't set a locale via locale-gen. Edit /etc/locale to your taste and then run /sbin/locale-gen, then reboot.

Re: K3b charset error

I don't have the file etc locale.
I don't have the file /etc/locale-gen

I'm pretty sure the locales are set correctly, and k3b is looking in the wrong place.

Re: K3b charset error

My apologies, it should have been /etc/locale.gen and /usr/sbin/locale-gen, you should have it as it's owned by glibc. That's what I get for messing about with too may other Linux distros.

Re: K3b charset error

Thanks. I tried two different locales, and then it worked.
