[OSS 4] Fatal error when starting oss-linux-free

I receive the following error when attempting to start this daemon as the thread title states.  I've tried running the command as root with no difference.  OSS was installed from PKGBUILD.  I did not receive any strange (to me, anyway) errors/warnings during compiling.  Arch64 install.

sudo /etc/rc.d/oss-linux-free start
:: Starting OSS/Open source driver [BUSY]
Relinking OSS kernel modules for "2.6.24-ARCH SMP preempt mod_unload "
This may take few moments - please stand by...

Relinking the OSS kernel modules failed
                                                                         [FAIL]

Any insight into the problem would be a huge help and very appreciated.

Re: [OSS 4] Fatal error when starting oss-linux-free

Update:  I downloaded the source amd64 package from the 4Front website.  Attempting to compile this package with the install script produced the same error.
