This should be a one word answer to anyone familiar with KDE. I'm trying to use SK1 a program that requires kdialog to open and save files. When I click on the open and save buttons (and probably others) the error 'kdialog not found' comes up. I'm sure kdebase would take care of that, but kdebase is still quite large. What is the smallest package that will give me kdialog functionality just so I can satisfy this one program? Thanks.

Great things come in tar.xz packages.

I am no expert, but I think that if you are using kde vanilla you have no choice but to install kdebase. If you are using kdemod, then there will probably be a smaller package, but I would forget it if you are using normal kde as it's basically one big package.

Well traditionally, packages in the AUR don't list kdemod packages as dependencies. So I'll leave the dependency as kdebase. It's a shame such a large package is needed just for those two dialog boxes. For now, I'll use the command line to open new files... it's a pain but it'll have to do until I get enough time (and RAM) to try KDE.

Aha! I don't need kdebase. There's a config file where you can set what dialog it uses. I'll patch the AUR package to use automatic. I don't know why that isn't the default.
