When can we expect Networkmanager 0.7 in testing? It is already there in Suse and Fedora I think...
I am saying I want it there, but just curious when will we see it.
Thanks

Because it's not out
http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/NetworkManager/
If the aforementioned distros are including newer versions, they're getting it from CVS.

Ya i was just surprised when I read about SUSE features in digg and just assumed since I am on Arch testing repository that I would have it. I was a little shocked to see the version number.
Well I know we will have it soon, let them enjoy being bleeding edge for some days...;)

i've been running nm 0.7 from svn for some weeks now and it's pretty usable and stable. i talked to dan and it's quite likely 0.7.0 will be out next month, so it's not too far away
Offline
It's on AUR. But, it did not work for me. Will 0.7.0 have a CLI interface?

nm 0.7 needs wpa_supplicant 5.10 built with dbus support or else it won't work.
i have made svn pkgbuilds for libnetworkmanager, networkmanager and gnome-network-manager which work. i can post them when i get home in about 4 hours if you like.

Post them.

here is the stuff i use.
i don't have any webspace atm, but whatever... http://rapidshare.com/files/110347084/nm07.tar.gz.html
i haven't bothered adding a sed line to the wpa_supplicant pkgbuild, which sets a wrong path in the dbus .service, so just edit /usr/share/dbus-1/system-services/fi.blaaaaa.service to point to /usr/sbin instead of /sbin...
i simply commented out all md5sums, check them for yourself, if you want them. i don't care

Put them on AUR please. I hate rapidshare and their idiotic captchas.

what about people using KDE?

If you only have a PKGBUILD and no file attached you can use http://pastebin.com
And that's true their captchas are not human solvable. Or only few of them are.

It needs PolicyKit as well. Way too many bloody dependencies.

After a lot of failed attempts, I got NetworkManager 0.7 (svn) running on Arch. There are some issues, but it connects to the network! One perk is that I can connect to the wireless network at work, though I couldn't with 0.6.6. Here are the steps I took:
*installed dbus-glib 0.76 using ABS (NM 0.7 requires at least dbus-glib 0.75)
*installed PolicyKit 0.8 from AUR
*installed wpa_supplicant using baze's wpa_supplicant pkgbuild (which enables dbus support)
*installed networkmanager-svn using my pkgbuild
*installed networkmanager-applet-svn using my pkgbuild
*ran gtk-update-icon-cache -f /usr/share/icons/hicolor/ post-install (could be added to a networkmanager-applet-svn.install)
*added "wpa_supplicant -u" in rc.local (shouldn't be needed, but for some reason NetworkManager does not successfully start dbus).
*changed a bunch of policy files in /etc/dbus-1/system.d/ (For each NM related file, I copied the section for root, pasted it below but with my username. There's probably a better way.)
I can post the PKGBUILDs I created for networkmanager-svn and networkmanager-applet-svn if anyone wants to see them. They are based off the instructions here and here.

I was waiting for this for too long, but after i learnt how to use netcfg2, I think I will never go back to these gui tools with shit load of dependency.

0.7 was in fedora 8

0.7 was in fedora 8
And yet it is still not offically released... It won't make its way into Arch until it is.

I don't know if it's a good thing to wait that long. Obviously, almost everyone now uses NM 0.7 and I don't think the 0.6 branch is still maintained (haven't checked this information though). The thing is I suspect that the 0.7 version is a bit more usable (especially if it comes to VPN).
What could possibly take this long to release it?

NetworkManager 0.7.0-rc1 just turned up on the gnome mirror: http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/ … nager/0.7/

I just checked http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/ … nager/0.7/
NetworkManager-0.7.0.md5sum 27-Nov-2008 02:36 125
NetworkManager-0.7.0.tar.bz2 27-Nov-2008 02:36 1.1M
NetworkManager-0.7.0.tar.gz 27-Nov-2008 02:36 1.5M
Does it mean on 27th November 2008, NetworkManager 0.7 has been officially released? And we will be seeing it in arch soon?

How do I flag it out of date? I guess some one needs to do it.
