[SOLVED] Hidden file in the Open/Save as dialogue windows

I use the gnome desktop and when I go to open or save a file running in an application (Openoffice, Evolution, Epiphany, etc.) hidden files are displayed in the dialogue window that appears. How do I set it so that these file no longer appear?   I have checked that the "Show hidden and backup files" is not selected in the "File Management Preferences" but the hidden files continue.

Thank You

Simply right-click 'inside' the Open/Save dialogue window and untick "Show hidden...".  For whatever reason, GNOME manages this menu differently than Nautilus.
