In nautilus, I can right-click a video file and see the audio/video codecs and details of the video in the properties tab, but I do not use nautilus and am curious how I can do this otherwise in another app and/or CLI? Thanks a lot for any help

totem and smplayer show such info. Running mplayer from CLI also shows that, just not as nicely parsed.

Wow, I didn't even realize smplayer was out there, it's fantastic! I was using mplayer to play 720p (does it the best) but VLC for all else. I think I have a new regular player
UnixNeophyte, that's wonderful! Works perfectly!
