I was going to merge from Ubuntu to Archlinux on one of my laptops today. It's a alienware laptop with raid that i can't turn off, so unfortunately i have to use fakeraid. Anyways, i booted up, configured the network and installed dmraid. I activated the raidset but after that i couldn't find the partitions in /dev/mapper. /dev/mapper didn't even exist. Any ideas?
Best regards.

Sounds like you forgot to load the raid/mapper modules.

No /dev/mapper points to dm not working properly. I don't know if dmraid can create stuff if dm doesn't work.

dm is supposed to tell you where it created the new md-device on activation I think, but I could be wrong... Maybe you could check your logs.
edit: it seems my raidpartitions are located in /dev/ (/dev/md0, /dev/md1, etc). Did you check there? My lvm-volumes are located in /dev/mapper/ btw.
