Re: Linux CD shop - Software Care :)

*bump*

Any ideas that you think would convince you to buy a disk from me?

Re: Linux CD shop - Software Care :)

you could "offer" a "free coaster" with every arch install disk -- considering after you use it once you'll likely never need it (for that system) again.

archlinux - please read this and this — twice — then ask questions.

Re: Linux CD shop - Software Care :)

Perhaps you could work out deals with various distors to package some magnets, stickers, case logos, calendars, etc. wtih your CD packages. Perhaps if you bought 3 or more CDs you get a free magnet, or 10+ gets a free calendar. You'd have to work out the pricing structure and how much each disc costs vs. the price of other branded items. Also, what about a mega-pack that includes one of each of your distros and a complimentary thong (or t-shirt)!

Re: Linux CD shop - Software Care :)

I've made some Ubuntu stickers which look like

ubuntu%20small_0.png

That come completely free with the Ubuntu CD. After I have made some Arch Linux CDs, I will order some Arch Linux stickers as well wink But if any of you are interested in a Ubuntu Hardy Heron CD go get one now big_smile

Re: Linux CD shop - Software Care :)

Just thinking aloud here, but...like rson pointed out, the problem with CD-Rs, especially with Arch is that they are often obsolete after a single use.  I mean, even if you wanted to keep a Live CD hangin' about you'll still probably want the latest and greatest ISO. That being said, I like having professionally printed CDs--like those offered by Ubuntu via ShipIt.  What I think would be a cool idea, and what would certainly interest me in buying CDs from you or anyone else for that matter, is if you could provide professionally designed CDRWs. Not only could we burn the latest ISO onto them, but it's a good bit more environmentally friendly as well.

For what it's worth I prefer the original black CD label to the official white one, but I prefer both over the above modifications...simplicity is best.  Then again, I'm biased smile
