Linux CD shop - Software Care :)

I've made my own Linux CD shop called Software Care. At the moment I don't have much stock ready, but that will change very soon wink Yesterday I made a bunch of Ubuntu 8.04 CDs. Unfortunately I can't release the Arch Linux CDs because I'm not sure whether to use the RC version or the 2007 version. So what do you think? Any stupid errors?

Re: Linux CD shop - Software Care :)

I just checked out your site and it looks quite nice, do you ship internationally?

Yes, but they take 4 to 6 weeks to ship.

EDIT: By the way, are you making the CDs nice, with a cover and such? Also, are you planning to ship Arch LiveCDs? I might consider some shopping in the future, especially a nice shiny rescue Arch LiveCD.

@MONODA: Yes, I do.

@bangkok_manouel: Well I'm not reselling the Shipit CDs if that's what you're getting at. And as finferflu said it takes 6-8 weeks for them to arrive...and mine are obviously much faster. Here's an example of some of the great artwork wink

Ah you replied to my post while I was editing it big_smile
How does the Arch CD look like? (I know, I'm very superficial tongue)

The Arch labels are simple...just like the distro big_smile Unless you think they're boring...

Re: Linux CD shop - Software Care :)

No, I think they really fit, but I'm looking forward for a LiveCD, since with Arch I rarely need to use the install CD.

Re: Linux CD shop - Software Care :)

I updated the design...to be honest I think the old one was a bit..dull.

arch2280.png

Of course if you don't like it I'll change it back...

EDIT: That empty blue part should have the architecture on it...just forgot to put it on.
EDIT 2: Also about the live CD...the KDEmod guys (and a little bit of me) have been working on a KDEmod live CD...and a working version is due to be released near the end of this month. You could try that smile

Re: Linux CD shop - Software Care :)

To be honest, the only improvement that I like is that black strip at the bottom, but I would leave out the blue one. But hey, this is only my opinion smile

Re: Linux CD shop - Software Care :)

I prefer the second one, with the blue stripe, but it does still look a little plain.

Re: Linux CD shop - Software Care :)

I don't particularly like the mirror effect on "Core Installation Disk", but I do like the rest of it - if you removed the mirror and made "Core Installation Disk" larger I would really like it.

Re: Linux CD shop - Software Care :)

the install CD is a liveCD.... who said you had to actually run the installer script.

smile The code is all there, you just gotta change the packages on ArchISO, and you've got yourself a fancy new liveCD...

Re: Linux CD shop - Software Care :)

So... do you think I should be selling the RC? Or will it scare users with the RC tag? How long will it be till it's fully release? Yes, when this question is answered I'll get on to making Arch Linux CDs big_smile

Re: Linux CD shop - Software Care :)

This arch CD has all the packages from the repositories? If not I don't see much sense in buying other than a rescue CD.

Re: Linux CD shop - Software Care :)

The RC really doesnt mean much since arch is rolling release. I used the RC to install, It will install the same files onto the computer as the 2007 disk but an updated version so if you install from the RC you dont have to -Syu 200 megs of stuff. The only difference is the install script and that the RC is a live cd with space invadors big_smile.

Re: Linux CD shop - Software Care :)

What would convince you to buy from my shop? I thought that a free gift such as a keyring or fridge magnet could be good. I also thought that I could donate 50p (about $1) to the Linux distro(s) they buy. Maybe I could do a "Spend £10 or more for free postage!" thing...what do you think?
