/dev/cdrom permissions

i can play cds as root, but not in my regular account, using everything from cdcd to kmplayer.

my /etc/fstab entry looks like this:

/dev/cdrom /media/cdrom  auto  ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0

(even changing 'ro' to 'rw', the only suggestion i really understood, effected no change)

i'm assuming this is a matter of permissions for 'user' more than anything else, yes?
