Using Archlinux about 2 years or longer (cant remember), I want to state, due to some joyless topics here, that Arch is my favoured distro ever. Arch is exactly what i want: straightforward, elegant, undiluted.
And Archlinux is very easy and fast to use and to keep up to date (used LinuxFromScratch before).

Speaking of LFS, one of the structural engineers I work with tried LFS a few weeks ago. It took him ages to get to a working desktop. In the end, I had him install pacman from source on his LFS installation. Now he makes pacman packages on LFS to track software installations.

LFS + pacman = DIY Linux (http://www.diy-linux.org/). Although it seems to have died a bit lately.
