Re: Games stopped working after wineupgrade

Hello,

Unfortunately, that is the nature of Wine these days. The latest release broke one
game for me, but fixed another one.

You may need to revert back to your previous version and then try the next one
in a few weeks.

Is it possible to downgrade with pacman? smile

And trackmania nations forever has a gold status in the winehq. (with the latest version) On my arch setup it just doesn't work sad
It crashes after the loading screen.

Hello,

Look in "/var/cache/pacman/pkg" for your previous version of Wine.
If it is there, do:

pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/wine-whateverversion.pkg.tar.gz

Are you starting from a terminal? If not, do so, and see what errors are there.
If you see "export" then the name of some DLL, that often means you need to
run the native version of that DLL.

Re: Games stopped working after wineupgrade

I already downgraded but he was missing 3 dll's. (funny because he wasn't missing this dll's with version 0.59... )
But I can play my games again... smile I'll test the next version in a few weeks.

Re: Games stopped working after wineupgrade

Ahahah, that thread made me laugh hard.
People were complaining for ages that wine was outdated. It was finally bumped to 60 just before 61 was released.
So when 61 was released, people started complaining again. A few days later, Arch package was updated, so it was pretty fast this time.
But now people start complaining it breaks.

I also noticed tm nations forever was now supported by wine 60, and it still works with 61 for me. So no problem here.

But well, it almost looks like the wine package alone would require a fully dedicated developer, who could rebuild it every two weeks, and a full testing team to check in a few days the quality of the new release.

Re: Games stopped working after wineupgrade

Cupbearer, it is morning, fill my cup with Wine!
Make haste, the heavenly sphere knows no delay.
Before this transient world is ruined and destroyed,
ruin me with a beaker of rose tinted Wine.
The sun of the Wine dawns in the east of the goblet.
Pursue life's pleasures, abandon dreams,
and the day when the wheel makes pitchers of my clay,
take care to fill my skull with Wine!
We are not men of piety, penance, and preaching,
but rather give us a sermon in praise of a cup of clear Wine.
Wine worship is a noble task,
O Hafez; rise and advance firmly to your noble task!

                                        -- Hafez

(Hmmm, it seems that this poem has not been updated for over 600 years!)
