ssh -X and remote desktops

Here at my uni I can connect to a server via ssh and work on it like a thin client.

Usually I do that issuing 'ssh -X'.

I am getting a shell and can start graphical programs (firefox, matlab, etc.).

Now what I want is to get the entire remote desktop inside a window... To show you what I mean I have attached a screenshot someone took for me using Windows Vista and Putty to access the server.

How can I achieve that?

Re: ssh -X and remote desktops

This can be achieved using "xnest". As far as I know this works by means of "plain tcp-ip". Maybe it can be configured to use ssh, I don't know.

Somewhere between "too small" and "too large" lies the size that is just right.
