blank screen with alt+f2-6 in console

this has been the case even before i installed x. i didn't see it as a problem as i prefer to just use screen anyway. still, it shouldn't be a problem. i had the same issue in ubuntu and it seems to be a nvidea issue.

Re: blank screen with alt+f2-6 in console

I had this issue in ubuntu and something in this post below fixed it:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=3593262

I think its to do with resolution not being set properly

Could it be an issue with your /etc/inittab file?
Can you post its content here?

Hmm, that looks pretty fine, I guess.

Anyone else got any ideas?

Re: blank screen with alt+f2-6 in console

So even before X starts and before you login you only have tty1? Switching just gives you blank screens?

i have tty1 and when i try to switch, i get a blank screen with a blinking cursor. if i try, then, to switch back to tty1, i end up with just a blank screen and a blinking cursor. these blank screens appear to accept no input, but trying to do it blindly, i'm not sure how accurate my input has been.
