Problem with .awesomerc

Can someone help me please? I dont know what version of awesome I'm suppose to install. When I install awesome with pacman it looks like awesome doesnt take care of any modiffications in .awesomerc. I found somethink about awesome-gic(?) but I'm still not sure what exacly am I suppose to do in order to have awesome just like others.

The syntax for the awesomerc changes for nearly every update of awesome. The reason awesome does not use your .awesomerc is because of faulty syntax. To check what is wrong type "awesome -k" while in awesome, it will tell on what line the fault lies.

Awesome-git seems pretty stable and is the upcoming awesome 3, if you install this version (with yaourt) copy the "/usr/share/awesome/awesomerc" to "~/.awesomerc" .
