is anyone else having trouble with running commands through emelfm2?

every once in a while I run a command in the command line of emelfm2 and sometimes I discover that running certain commands will crash Xorg. for example, I ran the following command and X froze up:
sudo cp /media/disk/usbbackup /usr/bin/usbbackup

is anyone else experiencing similar things?

i realized that all commands starting with sudo will crash the X
