xine-lib: multichannel audio messed up

xine-lib 1.1.12-1

The channels of 5.1 streams are inverted - center and left seem to be swapped. I tried both aac from a mkv file and ac3 from a DVD, and I did a test removing my .asoundrc and my ~/.xine dir: same result.
mplayer plays fine all the above.
Someone else noticed the same?
