I'm struggling with bluetooth dongle on my PC, and could do with some guidance please.
After much work and time I think I've managed to install the necessary components. These are, I think:
kdebluetooth
obex-data-server
dbus
I then started the daemons:
/etc/rc.d/dbus start
/etc/rc.d/bluetooth start
I started up the kbtobexclient from the KDE menu, then I started up bluetooth on my NOKIA N95 mobile and discovered the bluetooth dongle on my PC. I was able to send files to the mobile phone, from the PC, no problem.
However, how on earth do I receive files??
I read these:
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=46075
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=47455
which did not solve anything...
Then I found this:
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=45319
So I focused on the receive files bit, and did this:

When I try to send something on my phone, to the PC, the phone immediately says "Sending Failed!". Yet I can send files from the PC to the phone. The phone and PC are paired and there are no timeout issues.
I have no idea what all the above does or whether I've done something wrong. I've just blindly followed instructions and guides from across several threads. So any useful education would not go amiss - thanks :-)
Any ideas please?
So, I cannot

don't know how to do it in console but in gnome there is Bluetooth File Sharing (gnome-obex-server) in Applications->System Tools.
i can receive only when this application is active.

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

thanks anyway,
but console help is required.

man obexftp
No cause is lost if there is but one fool left to fight for it.

in my case, the mobile(Nokia 6600) can't even detect the laptop bluetooth device.
when i try to send something, it says scanning for devices and then says no bluetooth device found, whereas i already send files from laptop to mobile using obexftp, and in mobile added it as authorised.

my 6151 nokia can't send files to my desky, and doesn't see the bluetooth device, but what the hell, we have obexftp/kbluetooth/...

Bump.
Rather than references to man pages ...
Can someone else with relevant knowledge please provide some useful advice please, on how to receive via bluetooth.
Many thanks in advance for your kind assistance.

Not exactly a solution, but one can use Blueman for that. It is a GUI program but its dependencies are much smaller than ones for KDE or Gnome tools.
File can be received while blueman-manager is running (but it will ask for confirmation).

I doubt that this was relevant to the same capacity *10* years ago
Please pay attention to the dates and don't necrobump: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Co … bumping.22
