Placeholder in conky?

I have a one line conky that displays my Cpu usage, but I find in fairly annoying that evertime my Cpu item updates it shoves everything after it to the right or pulls it back to the left.  Was wondering in anyone knows of a way to insert a placeholder or somehow keep it from bothering the rest of the line.

Re: Placeholder in conky?

The "use_spacer" option might work for you. It's "use_spacer right/left/none". I used it for awhile but it isn't that great. It's kind of hard to explain. Try it and it may work perfect for you. If you monitor upload/download speeds you may have issues since it shifts these way out of place to account for the theoretical high values.

If anyone knows a better way I'm still looking too!!

Re: Placeholder in conky?

No luck meaning it didn't work, period? Or no luck meaning it doesn't do what you want? You have to set it before the TEXT part, you can't set it for individual processes. It's either on or off for all of them.

You can use align so that it is something like ${alignr 2}
