I'm thinking of upgrading the processor of my computer, and I need to wonder, is it okay to attach a CPU to a mobo that has a lower FSB speed than it? The processor is 800mhz FSB, while my mobo is 533mhz. At least I think it is, but I confirming that would be difficult.

As long as the socket is compatible. Downside is underperformance. You can raise the FSB, but 533 and 800 are pretty far apart. You can try lower the multiplier to the lowest, see what FSB rating you can achieve. But you're right - bad idea.
I need real, proper pen and paper for this.

I've honestly never tried something like that. However, I would assume the same as schivmeister. The computer will either boot or it won't. I don't think it will hurt anything to try

Okay, thanks. I had been looking at upgrading the pentium4 processor on my computer to a better one, but in the end I decided not to, since the ones I was looking at were faster only by 100 or 200 mhz. That, and they didn't have hyperthreading. And my crappy Foxconn mobo doesn't allow me to overclock anything.
