FTP Speed

Hey all, this is a general Linux question. Is there a way to show the speed/progress of a transfer when using the command line ftp tool to "get" a file?

Ah k. I guess it would depend on which ftp utility you're using, but I haven't really used any before so I'm no help.

Re: FTP Speed

In the original ftp, I think the best you can do is to enter the command 'hash' inside ftp - that should print '#' every 1kb or 512b (don't remember).

However, I'd recommend using eg. lftp. That *does* show progress.
