Anyone tried it yet ? Seems really stable to me. ![]()

Yeah, I've been running it for several days now and it works great. No problems with extensions and plugins, either, at least so far.
It actually reports that it's Firefox 3.0 in the Help / About Mozilla Firefox menu.

Works great except for flash, it decides to bogg down on some flash-heavy sites. It might just be a very small thing that'll get ironed out in the final release. Otherwise, its looking to be an awesome release :-)

I downloaded the source. How can I compile it?

Is that not just to do with flash itself and your system? I can't see how the firefox code could affect how much flash bogs down your system. I could be completely wrong of course ![]()

No, you may be right about that statement, but I'm comparing an old apple to a new one. Firefox 2.x didn't really have this same problem for me compared to this rc1 release. Although it could just be a placebo effect, I should figure out a way to get some hard numbers on this though.

I just used the PKGBUILD for the package in unstable and bumped it up to 3.0rc1 and worked fine (getting rig of MD5)
just had to remember to get all the extra files

Yeah, raccoon, there are several different types of firefox3 beta package builds under "unsupported" in AUR. Just look them over, pick a package and then modify the PKGBUILD to download and build rc1.

I made one but having problems with AUR i couldn't upload it, however here it is:
PKGBUILD:

pkgname=firefox3-rc-es
pkgver=1
pkgrel=1
pkgdesc="Release Candidate de Firefox (Build oficial de Mozilla))"

url="www.getfirefox.com"
license=('MPL')
depends=(sqlite3 nss libxt libgnome)
install="firefox3-rc-es.install"

cp -R $startdir/src/firefox $startdir/pkg/opt/firefox3
mkdir $startdir/pkg/usr/
mkdir $startdir/pkg/usr/bin
ln -s $startdir/pkg/opt/firefox3/firefox $startdir/pkg/usr/bin/firefox3
}firefox3-rc-es.install:
post_install () {
echo 'Esta es una Release Candidate de Firefox 3 en Español, el build es el oficial proporcionado por Mozilla para el idioma Español (de España).
Para ejecutar Firefox, solo use el comando "firefox3" (sin comillas)'
}However this one is for spanish users and already compiled (Mozilla's build).
Proud Ex-Arch user.
Still an ArchLinux lover though.
Currently on Kubuntu 9.10

firefox-bin is eating 35%-45% of CPU after upgrade to RC.

I'm waiting for the Swiftweasel release.

It's not that fast. If you want fast, get my package. It has PGO.

Not sure what's going on there because it's hovering around 5 to 6% on my box. I know there was a problem like that with the beta releases but it's supposed to be fixed in rc1.

I tried SpookyET, and it really is fast. What is PGO ?

Can I install Firefox3rc1 from AUR without trashing my current firefox?

You could rename your hidden /home/username/.mozilla folder so that it isn't overwritten by ff3 the first time it starts up. Then, if you don't like ff3 you can delete the new .mozilla folder, then rename the ff2 folder to the original name.

Ok, thanks for that. ![]()

Ok I did, it works great! Thanks a lot.
Will your AUR page (firefox-spookyet) also have future versions? I can't go back to non-PGO now.

So... what is PGO ?
