Re: Stuck at 800x600

yeah I installed the intel drivers in the package 'xf86-video-intel'

maybe I didn't define the driver correctly in the xorg.conf? I thought I did..

Uncomment dri and the last three lines...
Also add more resolutions to your xorg.conf.

Re: Stuck at 800x600

Have you tried it without an xorg.conf? If that works, create a new one with 'X -configure' as root then tweak from there if needed.

Re: Stuck at 800x600

haha, yep. just deleted the thing and everything works fine smile

oh and btw, I get this error message every startup saying gnome-screensaver has crashed. anyway to just remove that from startup since I don't really care about my screensaver?

Re: Stuck at 800x600

Stythys,

I've got the same problem w/ the screensaver.  Had to uninstall it.  And 'cheese' crashes too.    Believe I used the same driver you did, because the 'i810' wouldn't give me better than 800x600 resolution.  Have stability problems graphics and 100% CPU usage sometimes.  Just posted here: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=48870.

As I understand it, you deleted xorg.conf?  And it worked w/o doing anything else?

Are you running Gnome or Kde or what?

thanks,

lynnevan

Re: Stuck at 800x600

btw, about the screensaver, I fixed it. You need to add some daemons to your rc.conf after you install gnome to get it to run correctly. And yeah, I just deleted my xorg.conf and everything seems to work fine.

well, my compiz-fusion slows down my computer alot...basically it's unusable, but it works fine in my other distros. working on that now =P

Re: Stuck at 800x600

ok, well I went here: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xorg

and compiling my xorg.conf with the 'hwd' option seems to work fine. still having compiz issues tho =/
