Re: [SOLVED] Awn

hi, report here the error that you get.
do you have a composite manager installed? (compiz, metacity compositor, xcompmng)
are you building it from source or getting it with pacman?
bye!

Re: [SOLVED] Awn

The only way to install AWN is using the AUR. I don't use it in KDE or Gnome, but it works fine in Xfce for me.

Re: [SOLVED] Awn

You need to have compositing enabled before you run AWN. Metacity has this as does E17, and Kwin. Compiz will also work. For Smaller Desktops, xcompmgr is a good composite manager that allows AWN to work.

Have you looked at Cairo-Dock ? I find it faster and smaller, even if it doesn't have the app integration AWN has. It has more effects if you want more eye candy.

Re: [SOLVED] Awn

netmanny,
since you have gnome installed try this:
- open 'gconftool'
- set to true /apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager (this will enable the metacity compositor)
- launch avant-window-navigator

it should start correctly...

Re: [SOLVED] Awn

Try use awn-agnostic from AUR http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=19900.
And use xcompmgr.

Didn't even know that metacity had compositing. Thank you very much!
