Does anyone here use LXPanel?

It's from the LXDE project and is based off of fbpanel.

I was just wondering what people think of using the panel with an openbox system?

Re: Does anyone here use LXPanel?

Yea, well, I was using it with openbox... a nice panel, not too heavy on memory (not like pypanel), and nice enough (not like fspanel). Themeable, useful plugins. Except recently it started segfaulting when the wireless is on...

Re: Does anyone here use LXPanel?

I was using, and i keeping using, very useful, and this new version it's VERY better, many bugs fixed and now we have a calendar clicking on the clock.

Today i'm using LXDE (lxpanel, lxapperance, lxetc...) +PCManFM + Openbox + xcompmgr, this last showed that not integrates very much with the LXDE now, or it's just a lot of bugs.

Re: Does anyone here use LXPanel?

It crashes on 64-bit. The author has written in to say fixes are in SVN.

On a more positive note - Very good panel, calendar is a very nice addition, would be awesome if it could sync with other calendar/alarm programs like sunbird.

Re: Does anyone here use LXPanel?

LXPanel 0.3.6 was released yesterday.
It's a bug-fix release.

Cheers!

Re: Does anyone here use LXPanel?

@PCman: thanks for the update!

But: I still have the same problem as before: if wireless is on, lxpanel segfaults. However, I can do the following: turn the wireless off, run lxpanel, open settings, remove 'net status monitor' applet from the list. Close lxpanel, turn on wireless, and lxpanel works!
[I can send you strace output if you are interested.]

Re: Does anyone here use LXPanel?

I've tried lxpanel in my recent glut of desktop experimentation... I was somewhat put off by its inability to use the icons I specified in my setup, but otherwise it performed well and seemed pretty stable. Unlike, say, gnome-panel, which is a crash-prone RAM hog.

Re: Does anyone here use LXPanel?

Until I configure Pypanel to my needs I find LXPanel to be very useful...

Before I started using LXPanel, I always used Docker and AllTray. After a (long) while, I felt as if that combo wasn't enough... So I went looking for a tray that worked and I found LXPanel to be a nice, convenient option. I hear that Pypanel is even better, but I need to keep tweaking my .pypanelrc before I start using it. Until then... LXPanel.

Unfortunately there is still the 64-bit crash problem, message has been sent upstream...
