Does anyone know how to fix this. I found one article on this online, but it said to comment out the offending virtual terminals. This is happening on all of them (c1 - c6), it says.

There is probably something wrong with your getty (agetty is the default one). The way init works is that if agetty on a virtual terminal end (or crashes), it is restarted again. Usually, this only happens when you log out, but if there's a problem with it, it just keeps crashing, being restarted, etc... If this keeps happening for a (short) while, init disables that terminal, and you get the message you posted above.
Check the logs. Check that agetty is working (it's in util-linux-ng package). Check your inittab.

I get this error sometimes on my HP laptop. Booting with noapic fixes the issue but also makes everything else run kinda screwy.
