the output should be much better now when taking into account dependencies.
Also, I've fixed all the checks behind dependencies, so when it fails it will print what was wrong (missing dependency, makepkg error, general error...)

but it isnt fetching the dependicies...its going GREAT...i guess it lacks this one...

I'm fixing the output and some checks... will commit in 10 mins
btw you can already fetch dependencies with --builddeps... see --help for the usage!

Re: New pacman utility, rebuild and optimize packages from source

Beautiful work, Cimi. You really filled a niche that makeworld was unable to fill for a while, IMO.
A few of the suggested names are good. I like KISS names like makepkg, and PKGBUILD, so to me 'rebuild' 'remake' 'resource' or 'sourcebuild' sound appropriate. smile
I wonder if you may consider eventually submitting your code as a feature request to be merged ?

I guess it should be better to leave it separated... because this project started to fix makeworld but then got a lot of new features... see --help

I like the "pacguy" name, even though it isn't really descriptive.

pacwoman on the other hand is, package (with optimizations) manager. smile

Repacker is nice, maybe a twist on spelling; 'repac'

Re: New pacman utility, rebuild and optimize packages from source

the issue is that the tool is not just for repacking, but also just for packing. you can install from aur or upgrade your system, and that means simple packing.
it is repacking just when the package is already installed and has the same version

Re: New pacman utility, rebuild and optimize packages from source

fixed a bug when building multiple deps and a bug when upgrading svn packages from aur.
if someone now wants to patch pacbuilder to have --flags etc etc like pacman, yeah should be very appreciated

Re: New pacman utility, rebuild and optimize packages from source

I just googled to find out how "Ms. Pac-Man" is called, what her name is. Wikipedia said that she was called "Pepper" in the Pac-Man-TV-series. I think it would be a nice little joke to call your project "pepper" as it is somehow the "wife of pacman".

Re: New pacman utility, rebuild and optimize packages from source

you've added the wrong flag, with --builddeps it prints the name of the deps

[cimi@aries ~]$ sudo pacbuilder --extra --builddeps
Password:
-------------------------------
 PacBuilder, by Andrea Cimitan
-------------------------------

==> ATTENTION: Previous build detected. Do you want to resume? (y/n): y

Resuming...
==> Building alacarte [package 1 of 478] ... makepkg failed!
==> Building amule [package 2 of 478] ... depends on crypto++!
==> Building crypto++ [makedependency of amule] ...
