I heard about this on the ubuntu forum.
http://www.fs-driver.org/index.html
i just did it on my XP/PCLinuxOS desktop, but may not do it on my laptop yet, because I hardly ever use Vista.

I've been using this for ages ![]()

I found it yesterday.

Nah, most of them are using Vista these days.
(And yes, that was intentional.)

Are people still using Windows?
Well, as discussed in this thread, the X Window system is still the best around. If you know of anything better feel free to suggest it.

- "Cryptographically secure linear feedback based shift registers" -- a phrase that'll get any party started.
- My AUR packages.
- I use i3 on my i7.

Unfortunately yes. I will never be able to dump it completely because I am a musician, and need to use Cubase for recording, and I have never been able to make my external sound card work in linux. (if you think you can help me with that, http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=48301)
I have both XP and Vista, but on different computers. XP is the best OS Microsoft ever made, and Vista is bloated beyond belief.(10GB for the windows folder?) I use XP sometimes, but it has been months since I did anything productive on Vista.

I use it too so I can access my music and other things from within windows.
Still use windows primarily for Flight Simulator and my Pocket PC. I'll buy X-Plane one of these days.

XP is good as long as I don't insert a USB disk into it. It seems
that XP has some nice feature of autorunning virii from USB disks.
I still have XP around for some scientific software and of course
the occasional game that I play.
One note if you're using fs-driver -- viruses that affect your Windows
will not affect linux obviously, but since linux ext3 will appear just
as an ordinary fat32 partition to windows, the virus may spew out
crap in the ext3 fs (like it did once for me: putting COPY.EXE and
RECYCLER.EXE in my /home).
I think it's best to enable it only when you need it (or keep it read
only somehow). If there's some virus which goes on recursively
corrupting files (and it infects Windows), it will spread to the
ext3 partition as well.

A small drawback, it doesn't handle files directy from the origin, they must copied into win fs partitions.
F
do it good first, it will be faster than do it twice

How do I edit the settings after installation of the ext2 drivers?

There aren't too many settings....I *think* you can find it in the control panel.

There are settings there, but only for drive letters, not for read only property.

Are you sure you're using the version which supports read-only mounting ? That's a somewhat new feature and isn't available in earlier releases.

I had the read only option on install, but didn't select it.
