tody i use upx compress all file in /usr/bin /opt/*/bin
it save my disk to 80M ,untile now every thing is ok.
should we add upx function to abs pacamn and makepkg to reduce pacakage size?
btw: i use upx1.2.4 ,do not use 1.90 is beta version!!!

Upx is great for saving some diskspace, but if you want serious compression then use a filesystem with build-in compression support, much better than compressing all binary files by hand. The main problem is that binary files don't take the most space on your hd, you would want to compress all files.
You can't reduce package size with UPX because the packages are already compressed, compressing twice doesn't make it smaller.

Compressing the packages with bzip2 instead of gzip would in most cases, but I suppose that has probably been debated to death
