hi,
it's me again
got hp8430 (Core Duo 2ghz)
when on battery i got.. judging from the acpi -V output at most 2hrs
checked on powertop and have ~200 interrupts <kernel IPI> : Rescheduling interrupts
power usage is ~25+ W
C0 (cpu running) ( 5.7%) 2.00 Ghz 0.0%
C1 0.0ms ( 0.0%) 1.67 Ghz 0.0%
C2 0.2ms ( 0.5%) 1333 Mhz 0.0%
C3 2.2ms (93.7%) 1000 Mhz 100.0%
tried using all the powertop tricks
used pm-powersave true option
monitor at min backlight...
also cpufreq is active
now i wonder... what's the problem?
i'm getting at least 2.5+ hrs while on windows
also what i noticed...
when i kill X and stay in console strictly... i have ~40 interrupts in total
yet power consumption stayed the same??
help please

Have a look at *what* causes the interrupts in powertop. In my case it's mostly acpi, usb modules, wireless and such. If you're on battery and you don't need, say, usb, then unload the modules. It should decrease the consumption a bit.

this is what i get:
Top causes for wakeups:
31.2% (257.0) <kernel IPI> : Rescheduling interrupts
29.2% (240.6) <interrupt> : PS/2 keyboard/mouse/touchpad
13.0% (106.6) <interrupt> : extra timer interrupt
12.0% ( 98.5) firefox-bin : schedule_timeout (process_timeout)
3.4% ( 27.7) <interrupt> : ahci, iwl3945
3.3% ( 27.5) firefox-bin : futex_wait (hrtimer_wakeup)
