Dual Boot MBR Madness - Annoying [solved]

I have the following setup:

sda1 - XP
sda2 - /boot
sda3 - /
sda5 - /swap
sda6 - /home

GRUB is resident in /boot and works great... until I boot into XP.  I noticed the boot flag gets moved from /boot to sda1, thus causing the computer to boot into XP without options.  The only way to change it back is to boot into a live CD with a partition editor and switch the flag back.  But then when I go into XP, it gets reset again.

Ideas?

i have the same setup. I have XP also but this is going to be from memory cause i'm in arch now.. right click on "my computer" and go to manage> disk storage (somthing about disks....thers only 3 options at this point) and then you should see your partition table, right click on sda2 and "set to active" i believe.

Thats roughly it. If thats not close enuf i'll boot into xp and get the exact details for ya.

Tried it and the option to activate it was greyed out and unselectable.  The partition shows as unknown.

Re: Dual Boot MBR Madness - Annoying [solved]

do you get grub when you reboot from windows automatically or do you still have to do my steps?
I would love to not have to do those anymore haha.
