Hey I would like to have smaller terminal fonts (tty's). Like what SuSE does.
Anyway of doing this? Outside of X.

What about putting VGA=773 or the like into /boot/grub/menu.lst behind the kernel line?

There's an entry in /etc/rc.conf that allows you to specify which font you want to use. So find one you like and go for it. (I like terminus.)

Which .gz file do you load from /usr/share/kbd/consolefonts? The terminus package installed 197 of them...

There is some logic to it, but I forgot what it is
I have
CONSOLEFONT="ter-v16b"
in rc.conf (that's the usual size font); and I've also used ter-v12n at times (smaller). I think the number is size, b - bold, n - normal. Or something like that.
BTW, you can load a font instantly by 'setfont' command. So just try a couple of them out.

ter-v16b?
Sorry I can find anything but
t.fnt.gz in
/usr/share/kbd/consolefonts
And I don't know how to keymap this from:
/usr/share/kbd/keymaps/qwerty
Following this guide: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fon … al_console
I'm sure this is easy once you know.

You can install the terminus-font package for the terminus font. Or look for another one.

Hey thanks all! Just had to do the menu.st VGA= trick in grub. Then just set the terminus fonts to the right size after install.
