Re: KDE 4 SVN package repositories (i686/x86_64, release/debug)

Hi to all,
I've done a fresh archlinux installation with just enlightenment and kde4-svn.
Everything works fine except for digikam. When i try to run it i get:

digikam: error while loading shared libraries: libmarblewidget.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Have I missed any pakage?

I can't get firefox to look as a qt4 application; I think i need something like gtk-qt-engine but that one from [extra] requires a lot of dependecies (kde3 stuff). Is there a package I should install?

Thanks
Paolo

p.s.
thank you tanis for your job.

EDIT:
Solution1 (digikam). I've installed kde4-svn-kdeedu.
Solution2 (firefox). I compiled gtk-qt-engine-svn from aur changing the prefix dir (/opt/kde4-svn instead of /usr)

I always use Qtcurve as described here and it works perfectly:

Re: KDE 4 SVN package repositories (i686/x86_64, release/debug)

Hi, tanis... the beta 2 packages are working great.  They feel a bit more stable than the svn packages and even those are beginning to feel pretty stable.

For some reason, the widgets won't stay locked on the desktop in beta2.  They are unlocked again on every new login, but that's no biggy.  I was losing the start menu button on every login with the svn packages, so just having widgets unlocked isn't so bad.

Thanks again for your work on the packages.  smile

Edit:
  oh, and you are right about qt4 working better than qt-copy.

Thanks for your idea but i'd like to use gtk-qt-engine and i found a solution as i wrote above.

I had the same problem with plasmoids (also with  ubuntu). I think it's a temporary small bug.

Glad you were able to find something that works for you.  For some reason, gtk-qt-engine always seems to slow my browser down, but I've not tried the svn version.  I might give it a go in the near future to see if it works better than previous versions.

Re: KDE 4 SVN package repositories (i686/x86_64, release/debug)

I have uploaded another update, unfortunately quite a few packages refused to build this time (so there are older versions of those in the repository), I'll have a look into that.
One new thing is I added kde4-svn-lancelot package - with new Lancelot launcher - it crashes a lot, but looks really nice wink

Thanks tanis
I'm testing your packages and they seem to work pretty well. One thing is there a way to build only single packages? I don't want to rebuild all the packages each time I decide to test new svn builds...

Re: KDE 4 SVN package repositories (i686/x86_64, release/debug)

@piccolotux: The build_all script rebuilds only the packages that have some new svn changes, skipping all of those, for which svn revision number didn't change.
But if you want to rebuild just a single package, use build_one.

Re: KDE 4 SVN package repositories (i686/x86_64, release/debug)

Hi tanis
Hi tried to follow your suggestion so I first ran ./update_all_svn and after I tried to run:

./build_one qt-copy
Could not read revision from svn directory!

What could it be the problem?
Maybe the command is not the right one?

Re: KDE 4 SVN package repositories (i686/x86_64, release/debug)

@piccolotux: Check if inside pkgbuilds/qt-copy there is a link: svn -> ../../svn_sources/qt-copy
If yes, check if ../../svn_sources/qt-copy exists and contains svn sources of qt-copy.
When you enter that directory, run 'svn info' command and see what it produces.
It should be something like:

Path: .
URL: svn://anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde/trunk/qt-copy
Repository Root: svn://anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde
Repository UUID: 283d02a7-25f6-0310-bc7c-ecb5cbfe19da

Re: KDE 4 SVN package repositories (i686/x86_64, release/debug)

The links seem to be correct.
And the output of the svn info command is similar to yours:

URL: svn://anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde/trunk/qt-copy
Repository: svn://anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde
UUID del Repository: 283d02a7-25f6-0310-bc7c-ecb5cbfe19da
Revisione: 829800
Tipo di Nodo: directory
Azione: normale
Autore dell'Ultimo Cambiamento: dfaure
Revisione dell'Ultimo Cambiamento: 829466
Data dell'Ultimo Cambiamento: 2008-07-08 17:00:44 +0200 (mar, 08 lug 2008)

Sorry, it's in italian smile but i guess it's enough...

By the way the error occurs for each package I try to build sad

Re: KDE 4 SVN package repositories (i686/x86_64, release/debug)

Ah. Italian is the problem wink
The script looks for something like: "Last Changed Rev: ".
And since it is "Revisione dell'Ultimo Cambiamento" it fails wink
Add following line to the beginning of build_one script (just after #!/bin/bash):

export LC_ALL=C

It should help.

Re: KDE 4 SVN package repositories (i686/x86_64, release/debug)

By the way, you should really consider running build_all at least once, since it pulls and installs all needed dependencies. Otherwise some (or most) of packages can't be built.

On the other hand, is you installed KDE4 svn from my repository before, you should already have all of them wink

By the way...yes I think I'll definetely use your precompiled packages smile Too lazy and not much time to compile them...
It seems that you update them more fequently now.

Last question: will you upload languages packages?

Re: KDE 4 SVN package repositories (i686/x86_64, release/debug)

Thanks for your work!!! I LOVE YOU!! I hope you update frequently!! I switch from kdemod4 packages, yours are more completed!!

I have a little problem. When I try to install kmplayer from source i have this error:

CMake Error: KDE4Internal_DIR is not set.  It must be set to the directory containing KDE4InternalConfig.cmake in order to use KDE4Internal.

Can I solve this problem??

PS THANKS THANKS THANKS

I have a problem with kdm4-svn. If i start it (/etc/rc.d/kdm4-svn) it gives me an error on a theme not found (a theme named "circles" under /opt/kde/.. directory)
I have edited the file "/opt/kde4-svn/share/config/kdm/kdmrc" and now it works well (with the theme oxygen under /opt/kde4-svn/..) but in the list of possible DM not compare "kde4-svn" but only "kde4".

I'm making a separate user and installing the SVN packages alongside KDEMod4. Will provide feedback soon.

Re: KDE 4 SVN package repositories (i686/x86_64, release/debug)

Hi there.
I have made some changes to repository.

The beta repository remains the same (only name was changed from tanis-kde4 to kde4 tongue ), but I removed old SVN repositories.
There are 5 new SVN repositories instead.
There is one repository for KDE4 language packages, it should work for any architecture:

[kde4-svn-lang]
Server = http://csclub.uwaterloo.ca/~jkschmid/arch/kde4-svn/lang

And for each architecture there are two package repositories. One with KDE built with RELEASE option, and the other with RELWITHDEBINFO (and qt-copy with --debug).
Note that debug versions of repositories are way larger (about 3 times larger), but packages built with debug info provide crash reports
that are way more useful for KDE4 developers.

Repository info for x86_64:

[kde4-svn]
Server = http://csclub.uwaterloo.ca/~jkschmid/arch/kde4-svn/release/x86_64

and:

[kde4-svn-debug]
Server = http://csclub.uwaterloo.ca/~jkschmid/arch/kde4-svn/debug/x86_64

For i686:

[kde4-svn]
Server = http://csclub.uwaterloo.ca/~jkschmid/arch/kde4-svn/release/i686

and:

[kde4-svn-debug]
Server = http://csclub.uwaterloo.ca/~jkschmid/arch/kde4-svn/debug/i686

My pacman.conf file looks like this (debug version of KDE4-svn + language packs):

[kde4-svn-debug]
Server = http://csclub.uwaterloo.ca/~jkschmid/arch/kde4-svn/debug/x86_64

[kde4-svn-lang]
Server = http://csclub.uwaterloo.ca/~jkschmid/arch/kde4-svn/lang

All of the repositories will be updated daily.

To install full KDE plus chosen language pack, you could run: pacman -Sy kde4-svn-all kde4-svn-l10n-xy, where xy is your language's code.

Re: KDE 4 SVN package repositories (i686/x86_64, release/debug)

@nuovodna: Step needs gmm++ package, which is not present in Arch's repositories. However, I added this package to my repositories, so the Step package should be included in KDE Edu from the next successful compilation of KDE Edu (in other words: if everything works fine, tomorrow wink )
