Unreal Tournament trouble

I have some trouble with UT...
1) The cpu usage is VERY very high... arround 90-100% No matter if I idle in the game menu, or I play...
2) I can't alt + tab
3) Sound dies off after few minutes. Note that I'm using oss4 and to bring back sound I have to restart oss-linux-free.
Solutions anyone?

Re: Unreal Tournament trouble

No, because I have the GOTY version and the package, hm, doesn't provide the GOTY version. I used the loki installer and then the unzip fix as showh here

Re: Unreal Tournament trouble

Hi,

I had some problems with the sound with ALSA, but now with OSS4 it works fine for me.
Have you tried changing you AudioDevice in your UnrealTournament.ini:

replace

AudioDevice=ALAudio.ALAudioSubsystem

with

AudioDevice=Audio.GenericAudioSubsystem

Or did you set up OpenAL for OSS4 correctly?

What exactly do you mean?
I've upgraded the PKGBUILD so that it can install UT99 from CD or DVD.
If you install from CD, only the first one is used, since the second one contains stuff like the S3TC textures and the ChaosUT, which can be problematic on servers or are probably outdated.
If you tell me what you are missing in PKGBUILD and I probably could fix it.

Re: Unreal Tournament trouble

I made the changes you suggested, however no change... CPU usage in UT is still 90+% even in menu...
I didn't know that the S3TC textures are problematic on servers...
My version is a Two CD GOTY.
What problems do the S3TC textures cause on servers?
Thank you for your advice.
