High Res-Videos run choppy and slow

Hi!
I don't know if that's normal, so i ask - yesterday i downloaded Big buck Bunny in a high resolution ( 1920x1080, i just wanted to see the difference wink)
But - as the title says - it runs very slow, actually the sound works fine but the movie is just 1-2 frames, then nothing.
Low resolutions work fine, all codecs are in place and my computer is a Athlon 3500+, 1 Gig ram and an GeForce 8600 - ok, not THAT fast, but it should manage it shouldn't it? I mean i could play Warcraft3 in this resolution with more fps.
I use vlc and kaffeine/xine for playback

MPlayer.  Compile it yourself if you can but the binary should be okay as well.

Re: High Res-Videos run choppy and slow

thanks for the reply - i just realized (after i downloaded the video as a .avi) - it't ogg-video that runs so slow!
The same Movie in 1920x1080 and avi runs very smooth.
