When I try to install hal sudo from an initial Arch Core Disk most recent one Oct 07 and I try to install hal and sudo whichever one pacman doesn't upgrade with conflict of .CHANGELOG in both glibc and pcre. How can I fix this problem it seems like to much stuff was messed with and Arch was working fine last November.

I would suggest using the 2008.03 or 2008.04RC1 installers. Both of these are in the iso directory on the mirrors.

sounds to me like u need use the 'f' force option on pacman to overwrite the old .changlog. But I may be wrong.
Why are u installing packages from the CD anyway? Once I get 'base' packages installed, I am done with the CD. Change your mirror to a local one and use the updated repositories.

Well I have to say I tryed a new more recent ISO and ran into some problems when trying to install Fluxbox on my Laptop. It's too bad cause Arch was really #1 for me last fall. I just wish things could be put back the way they were last fall and not all that constant updating was going on.
