I installed the latest Arch beta and got everything. I just have one issue that needs to be resolved.
When Arch shutdowns down, I get this error message twice:
/var/run/gdm.pid does not exist. gdm may not be running
gdm is running, I have it set to run as a daemon in /etc/rc.conf and id:5:initdefault: is uncommented in /etc/inittab so it should be running at boot up. GDM pops up about 20 seconds after booting so visually I know it is running.
gdm.pid does exist, here is the contents of the file below:
3074
Any ideas here?

You are not alone: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/8125.
One additional comment: either run gdm as a daemon or use inittab. Both is unnecessary.
Also, welcome to Arch!

Ok, I will comment the inittab then.
Thanks.

Okay, finally fixed the problem and removed the error.
I did as above and commented out id:5:initdefault: in /etc/inittab but I still saw one warning error though the first one did disappear. So I decided to remove gdm as a daemon from /etc/rc.conf and uncommented id:5:initdefault:
As I was scrolling down /etc/inittab I noticed that both x:5:respawn:/usr/bin/xdm -nodaemon AND x:5:respawn:/usr/sbin/gdm -nodaemon were uncommented. I then commented for xdm and rebooted.
All the errors are gone, Arch is booting up smoothly.
This is a great distro and I plan to do a full write up on my blog sometime this week after getting LAMP running.
I should have came to Arch many years ago
