Thunderbird display subject wrong.

Mail from one sender is displayed wrong. A part of the email source looks like this. I have replaced stuff with *.

Subject: =?UTF-8?Q?Svar p=E5 emne: D=C3=B8rh=C3=A5ndtak v.side bak, 156?=
To: <****>
MIME-Version: 1.0
From: "****" <****>
Date: Wed, 04 Jun 2008 19:43:01 +0000
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8

Why are they using '=?UTF-8?' in the subject? Is it a requirement of some sort? The result is that Thunderbird cannot display the subject correctly. Is it anything I can do with Thunderbird?

The whole subject is displayed a '' and nothing else.
