i have tryed to install a ftp server on one of my computers and i tryed using pureftpd and pureadmin while doing this i mannaged to do something and now if i log onto that machine as a user i get this: "I have no name!" in the prompt like so:
I have no name!@Remote2 ~]$
this happens with all users even new ones root still works so i can probably fix it if i know what to fix anyone know a way to fix it? or do you need more info

Can your user read /etc/passwd (permissions should be 644)? That is a commonish cause of that.
Edit: Same with /etc/group.
