hp compaq nc4010

Hello all. I recently got a second hand nc4010 laptop and installed Ubuntu on it. Although all of the info online suggests that these laptops have integrated wifi, Ubuntu can't find a thing. There is no trace of wireless anywhere, lspci/dmesg etc say nothing about wireless and none of the tips I can find on the subject work.

I have come to the conclusion that whatever wifi stuff was in this laptop is now broken, completely unsupported or removed somehow. In any case I would rather have something that is fully supported by linux, for this laptop and any future laptops.

I will be installing arch over the weekend due to its awesomeness in general (use it on my main pc frequently) and its speed. My question is what pcmcia wireless card should I get? Is there something with open source drivers available? If not then which card is the best bet?

Thanks!
